Hello Tatem families!

The beginning of the school year is a whirlwind of excitement and anticipation. There are many ways to get involved and help, and I hope you will join us on the PTA! Why? Because when you join, we can shape our children’s educational experience and together make it even better.

Over the past year PTA members have supported new ideas and initiatives that have stemmed from conversations between families, teachers, students, and staff. Here’s just a few examples:

Field trips

Hosting artists in residence

The outdoor classroom and beautification

Mrs. Floyd’s Nanowrimo club (during which students write novels!);

Mrs. Miller’s baby chicks

Mr. Pfeiffer’s Sportsmanship Club

We depend on our school community to bring us new ideas, volunteer their time at events, and support these activities through fundraising. We all have different schedules, and involvement can be tailored to your interests and abilities. You can attend a (1-hour) meeting; join or chair a committee; become a room parent; and/or help us fundraise. There are opportunities for everyone, regardless of how much time you are able to give.

Our goal is to create a vibrant, supportive school community where every child can thrive. We hope you will join us!

Our goal this year is to have one primary fundraiser, the Read-a-Thon. Money raised as a result of this event will fund our operating budget. Some examples of efforts funded from our budget during the 2018-19 school year include buses for field trips, materials for the outdoor classroom, teacher workshops and clubs, the artist-in-residence experience, and most recently - the installation of the filtered water station for use by students and staff!

Read-a-Thon dates: October 28th through November 8th!

The Tatem PTA will continue to support some ongoing fundraisers this year as well: monthly dining experiences within the community (e.g., Chipotle, Rita's), the spirit wear sale, Amazon Smile and Box Tops for Education. The money raised from these efforts will go towards "extra" requests from teachers and unexpected expenses/opportunities that come up during the school year. Please see the documents below for information regarding these programs and how to contribute! The PTA greatly appreciates your support.
